Tokyo Exhibition "Produced in Saudi Arabia"

Under the Sponsorship of the Ministry of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, National Aquaculture Group was invited to participate in the exhibition to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations. TOKYO, May 2015. Based on Royal instruction, a celebration was held to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Saudi and Japan. An exhibition of Saudi Products was held with the participation of invited corporations. Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority “SAGIA” on behalf of the Saudi government, in coordination with Japanese government arranged for the ceremony and establishment of an exhibition under the theme "Produced in Saudi Arabia." NAQUA was selected to be the sole representative in nutrition sector. The exhibition was opened by Minister of Economy and Planning Eng. Adel bin Muhammad Fakeih and Deputy Minister of External Affairs Prince Mohammad bin Saud bin Khalid, and Governor of General Investment Authority Eng. GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Certification in Saudi Arabia - A First for the Country and the MENA Region

A fruitful cooperation between National Aquaculture Group and King Abdul Aziz University to combine academic study with practical experience

Eng. Ahmed Rasheed Al Ballaa "The Aquaculture Industry to create 400 thousand job opportunities for Saudis in next years"[Jeddah, December 2013] Prof Osama S. Tayyeb - President of King Abdul Aziz University said "It is an immense pleasure for us to see our youth getting the practical experiences in parallel with their academic studies". He further expressed his view on the occasion of inaugurating the expansion and development of the fish farm facility at the Faculty of Marine Sciences in Obhor. He expressed his happiness with such projects that emphasize on the importance of cooperation between the academic studies and the practical experience in this promising sector in the Saudi Arabia, for the mutual benefit of both the university and the relevant industry. The inauguration for the expansion and development of the fish farm facilities took place under the patronage of His Excellency, and was attended by the University representatives and Eng. The delegation toured all farm facilities including the renovated shrimp Hatchery, larvae unit, Shrimp and fish Cultivation Ponds which have been upgraded under the sponsorship of National Aquaculture Group. National Aquaculture Group participated in KAUST Fall 2012 Career Fair

[Al-Laith, October 2012] National Aquaculture Group, recently participated in Career Fair at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). The Career Fair was held at the university campus in Thuwal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, 17th October 2012. Participation of some of the top companies in the region was by invitation only. According to a spokesperson from KAUST, goal of the career fair was to provide KAUST’s graduate students from across science and technology disciplines a range of internships and the ability to explore future job opportunities. The Professional Development Office prepares students professionally to be qualified for the industry fields and obligate to business demands. Over 150 students, of both genders, different nationalities, and from across all KAUST degrees are expected to graduate by the end of 2012. KAUST Career Day acts as a launch pad for graduating students, and it is a platform where the graduate students get in direct contact with employers offering job opportunities in science, technology and business-related areas. Further, it enhances the networking environment that provides companies and KAUST with a special opportunity to explore the potential of its graduate students. National Aquaculture Group participated at the fair through an outstanding booth along with a Company portfolio presentation at the Conference Room. The attractive booth stirred the awareness of KAUST students about the company and its role in the aquaculture and food industry. National Aquaculture Group sponsored Al Laith's Second Mass Wedding Celebrations

[Al-Laith, April 2012] The cheerful atmosphere and joyful noises enlightened in Al Laith, when 110 young men and women exchanged their vows through a mass wedding ceremony. To congratulate the newlyweds, this historical celebration was attended by their family and beloved ones. The momentous ceremony was attended by Al Laith’s Governer, the General Mayor of Charitable societies in Makkah – Badr Bin Jaber Al Shaki, The CEO of National Aquaculture Group, Ahmed Bin Rashid Balla, the main sponsor of the ceremony along with government officials and Saudi Media. After the completion of celebrations, Al Laith’s Governor in his statement said “We Thank God for this remarkable gathering that materialized wedding ceremony of 110 bride and grooms while, Mr. Badr Bin Jaber assured all the socitieties have taken considerable steps for cooperation with the Private sector to initiate such charitable projects that aim at serving the community. In this context he further said “Last year at this time National Aquaculture Group sponsored the wedding of sixty couples and this year it escalated to 110, and we hope God helps us and this number doubles the next year. Mr. Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Balla, the CEO of National Aquaculture Group emphasized on the need to strengthen the private sectors role in supporting by participating at such events that reflect positively on the community at a local level and further uncovers Saudi Arabia optimistically at a global stage. Moreover, a draw was organized for 2012 car model to be won by grooms along with laptops and mobile phones which were won by the guests. It is worth mentioning, that the young couples had attended training courses about married life outlining aspects on dealing with each other. In addition to this a number of discussions took place with topics that would reduce the post – marriage problems of the newlyweds and would ensure a happy marital life based on knowledgeable and respect for the partners.

First Middle East Aquaculture Operation Earns BAP Certification

National Aquaculture Group (NAQUA) is the Middle East’s first company to earn Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in mid-January. Strategic Partnership Between NAQUA and SALIC Towards Achieving the Goals of Vision 2030 Through the Development and Sustainability of the Aquaculture Sector

A strategic partnership contract was signed between NAQUA and the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), one of the companies owned by the Public Investment Fund. The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SALIC, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley. The signing took place at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture headquarters on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the presence of representatives from both companies. As part of this deal, it was agreed to raise the capital of NAQUA through a primary investment from SALIC, resulting in SALIC owning 42.4% of the total shares of NAQUA. On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of SALIC, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, said: "The strategic partnership between SALIC and NAQUA aims to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 in the field of ensuring the sustainability of vital resources, and it aligns with SALIC's strategic objectives in achieving national food security goals and enabling the agricultural food sector by enhancing local production, which will reflect positively on improving the trade balance deficit." His Excellency added, "This approach aligns with the objectives of the Public Investment Fund and its portfolio companies as a primary driver of local economic growth. Through long-term partnerships with the private sector, SALIC will work on developing and growing the local aquaculture sector through its partnership with NAQUA. The Custodian of the two Holy Mosques reinforces the Aquaculture industry with 3 million Riyals

[October 2012] The founded committee of the Aquaculture society (of which the ministries committee had agreed for it to be established); invites Saudi nationals to complete the registration procedure for the mentioned membership; taking into consideration that the last registration date is the 14th of Sep. 2012. The goals of the society; which is an independent social and financial entity, are to develop the aquaculture industry and related products, as well as posting up aquaculture activities all over the Saudi Arabia. The society's presidency will be located in Jeddah. The society will prepare the necessary measures and roles that have to be implemented by the aquaculture industry and its products; in cooperation with related governmental offices to suggest mechanisms and methods of monitoring and inspection. Efforts will incorporate issuing / canceling of licenses, studying obstacles facing the industry as well as representing official / commercial sectors within the Saudi Arabia and abroad in coordination with the ministry of Agriculture. In addition to various other responsibilities that the society will take upon in order for aquaculture to be an important pillar for the Saudi Arabia's national economy. Referring to the Saudi ministry of Agriculture; the role of the society is for propagation and growth in addition to generating economical and environmental from benefits the living aquatic organisms; such as finfish, crustaceans, shellfish, mollusk's and phytoplankton's. Twenty seven of the original 30 members have attended the society meeting. Ten members have been selected to represent the administration committee, in addition to a chairman and his deputy. The committee has announced engineer Ahmed Rasheed Al-Bala'a and Mrs. Dena Al-Farris to be the president and the co-president of the society respectively. Ten members representing the administration committee have been selected also, as follows: Ahmed Rasheed Al-Bala'a, Mohammed Jaber Al-Sehely, Musaeed Abdul Rahman Al-Fayaz, Nasser Jar Allah Al-Jameel, Dena Abdulah Al-Farris, Nasir Ali Al-Sharif, Ali Mohamed Al-Shaikhi, Mohamed Saeed Baghanim, Ibrahim Al-Salem Al-Mishari and Esa Al-Yosif. Engineer Ahmed Rasheed Al-Bala'a explained that the idea of establishing the Aquaculture society and preparation for it had started during the year 1422h, supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and in coordination with aquaculture projects in the Saudi Arabia. These efforts have been supported by kind care of Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdulah bin Abdul Aziz when he honored by his attendance the Jazana Agriculture symposium held during the month of Zu-Aqeedah 1423h, which focused on the importance of this becoming fisheries industry and its role of developing social and economics affairs in the regions targeted by the symposium. The Royal kind attendance to Jazan Agriculture symposium assimilated the first step in transferring aquaculture from a traditional agriculture practice to a model developed industrial practice. The aquaculture projects in the regions of Al-Laith and Jazan have been honored by the kind visit of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques during opening ceremonies. The approval of the ministries committee for the recommendation of Minister of Agriculture to establish the aquaculture society in the month of Rabiee Al-Awaal of the current year, followed by the royal acts related to the industry of aquaculture. All of the above reflected the understanding of the royal wise leadership for the role of the aquaculture industry in supporting the Saudi Arabia's development plans. Engineer Ahmed Rasheed Al-Bala'a further explained that the efforts in establishing the Saudi Aquaculture Society resulted in gaining a ministries committee act that gave it an independent entity after clearing its objectives with reference to the ministry of Agriculture. Based on that the ministries act which has been issued on Rabiee Al-Awaal of the current year forming the founded society committee, the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques has reinforced the Aquaculture society affairs with 3 million Riyals supporting the current fascicule year.

The attractive booth stirred the awareness of KAUST students about the company and its role in the aquaculture and food industry. During the fair, National Aquaculture Group representatives keenly interacted with the students, providing awareness about the company, and giving them the opportunities to explore different career prospects. National Aquaculture Group was represented by the HR Team led by Corporate Organization and Knowledge Development Director, Ariffin Mamat. National Aquaculture Group, KAUST ink deal

[Arab News, April 2012] National Aquaculture Group and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have signed a memorandum of understanding which establishes a framework to undertake a variety of joint applied research projects.The areas for cooperation include shrimp genome research, water management, marine biology, saline agriculture, research on water borne diseases relevant to shrimp cultivation, impacts on red sea of long term aquaculture and agriculture aspects, biotechnology and environmental monitoring. As per the memorandum, National Aquaculture Group and KAUST recognized the key focus areas for the preliminary set of projects. KAUST will provide collaborative research opportunities by its respective research centers while National Aquaculture Group will provide and share their process experience in various fields coordinated through its business development division which will also oversee and manage the execution of the projects. KAUST's Red Sea Research center is proposed to be the project partner for Environmental monitoring whilst; the biosaline initiatives are projected to be undertaken jointly by KAUST's Desert Agriculture Research Initiative (DARI). National Aquaculture Group is committed to developing Saudi Arabia’s aquaculture industry. Hence, this agreement is in line with its aim to intensify association with academic and scientific institutions both at local and international levels. The objective of National Aquaculture Group Managing Director Ahmad R. Al Ballaa is to look forward to successful accomplishment and application of the research findings through this establishment of cooperation with KAUST. Professor Choon Fong Shih, president of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), said: "Today's agreement with National Aquaculture Group strongly complements our research agenda in sustainable food production, incorporating the holistic cycle of aquaculture and agriculture — led by globally renowned expert Professor Nina Fedoroff. This endeavor will also benefit significantly from the work of our Red Sea Research Center.” The memorandum offers National Aquaculture Group and KAUST a joint platform to seek winning opportunities in the Saudi Arabia's scientific and technological development, economic prosperity and environmental wellbeing.

National Aquaculture Group sponsored Al Laith's Second Mass Wedding Celebrations

[Al-Laith, April 2012] The cheerful atmosphere and joyful noises enlightened in Al Laith, when 110 young men and women exchanged their vows through a mass wedding ceremony. To congratulate the newlyweds, this historical celebration was attended by their family and beloved ones. The momentous ceremony was attended by Al Laith’s Governer, the General Mayor of Charitable societies in Makkah – Badr Bin Jaber Al Shaki, The CEO of National Aquaculture Group, Ahmed Bin Rashid Balla, the main sponsor of the ceremony along with government officials and Saudi Media. After the completion of celebrations, Al Laith’s Governor in his statement said “We Thank God for this remarkable gathering that materialized wedding ceremony of 110 bride and grooms while, Mr. Badr Bin Jaber assured all the socitieties have taken considerable steps for cooperation with the Private sector to initiate such charitable projects that aim at serving the community. In this context he further said “Last year at this time National Aquaculture Group sponsored the wedding of sixty couples and this year it escalated to 110, and we hope God helps us and this number doubles the next year. Mr. Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Balla, the CEO of National Aquaculture Group emphasized on the need to strengthen the private sectors role in supporting by participating at such events that reflect positively on the community at a local level and further uncovers Saudi Arabia optimistically at a global stage. He further added “We are the main sponsor of this mass wedding celebration, and we are always looking for opportunities to strengthen our role in supporting activities that will benefit the community. Since, community service is one of the major elements of our company’s strategy and we are looking to reach this objective in cooperation with Al Laith’s charitable societies to ensure the importance of offering ways to provide financial and moral support to the youth.” The financial contributions made by the National Aquaculture Group amounted to about 360,000 Saudi Riyals along with other sponsors, out of which a sum of 10,000 SAR was spent for each bride, and the amount of Saudi Riyals 2,000 per couple, which would help them to start their married life. Moreover, a draw was organized for 2012 car model to be won by grooms along with laptops and mobile phones which were won by the guests. It is worth mentioning, that the young couples had attended training courses about married life outlining aspects on dealing with each other. In addition to this a number of discussions took place with topics that would reduce the post – marriage problems of the newlyweds and would ensure a happy marital life based on knowledgeable and respect for the partners.

Shipping includes national products of sea bass fish and shrimp Saudia Cargo signs an agreement with National Aquaculture Group

March 2017: Saudia Cargo has signed a trade agreement with National Aquaculture Group. This contract is an extension of the successful deal between the two companies during the last period. The total quantities of marine products transported through Saudia Cargo during the past two years reached about 1800 tons inside and outside the Kingdom. Signing of this agreement shall boost the trade between the two parties. The agreement includes shipment of Sea Bass fish and shrimp, all of which are cultured in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Al-Lith Province in farms of National Aquaculture Group, using the pure Red Sea water. Nabil Khoja, MD of Saudia Cargo insured the high abilities of the company when dealing with such special shipments, which need an intensive care to reach targeted markets fresh. He mentioned that Saudia Cargo is keen to enter into strategic agreements with national companies in various fields to benefit from logistical support solutions and services provided by Saudia Cargo Ahmed Alballaa, MD of National Aquaculture Group, explained that the agreement is the crowning of years of cooperation and joint work with Saudia Cargo during the past years in transporting the Group's products to various segments of its customers inside and outside the Kingdom. He pointed out that National Group is proud to be a leading Saudi company in the field of aquaculture with international standards that take into consideration all means of biosecurity. Its products are strictly controlled from hatcheries to ponds until they reach the table to make the sustainability, safety and high quality of the product fully committed to customers. “Saudi Made” Exhibition Globalization of a National Industry

A “Saudi Made” exhibition was inaugurated by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, under the slogan "Our industries are our successes," as part of the Riyadh season activities, organized by the Saudi Export Development Authority and with the support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In the presence of The Minister of Commerce and Minister of Information in charge, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah al-Kasabi, Minister of Investment Engineer Khaled al-Falih, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Al Ibrahim, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Engineer Osama Al Zamil. During the event, NAQUA set up its own pavilion, a pathway through which the aquaculture industry is explained and brought to light, highlighting its role in contributing to food security, limiting the import of seafood and exporting surpluses to global markets and making it more accessible to consumers. Specifically, Saudi Arabia's non-oil industries should be developed to contribute to achieving the goals of Vision 2030, increasing competitiveness, supporting diversification of national income sources, demonstrating the efficiency of the skilled Saudi workforce, and participating in the change journey lead by the Kingdom. Over 250 companies participated in the exhibition during the period of February 13 to 16, 2022, and more than 4,500 products were displayed, in addition to providing 15 workshops in which more than 30 experts discussed their experience and the most prominent industrial success plans.

NAQUA Serves Pilgrims "Miqat Yalamlam"

The reception hall for pilgrims inaugurated at “Miqat Yalamlam”, Al-Lith governorate, with the honor of his highness Prince Khalid al-Faisal, advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Masjids and the Prince of Mecca, May Allah protect him. He was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ziyad Al-Hogail, and the Managing Director, Eng. Ahmed Al-Ballaa. The project is one of the government initiatives and efforts to provide pilgrims with unique and exceptional services to promote the honorable and civilized image of the Kingdom as part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 program. It was developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the National Aquaculture Group, whose aim was to provide shelter to people who were sleeping on the streets or waiting in parking lots. This project is among NAQUA’s award-winning projects, for which the building area of the project is about 1,700 square meters and the cost is estimated at around 8 million riyals.  The building can accommodate more than 300 people and will be operated by the National Aquaculture Group. The building is divided into two halls, each with a section for waiting and resting, as well as a dining hall. Strategic Partnership Between NAQUA and SALIC Towards Achieving the Goals of Vision 2030 Through the Development and Sustainability of the Aquaculture Sector

A strategic partnership contract was signed between NAQUA and the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), one of the companies owned by the Public Investment Fund. The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SALIC, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley. The signing took place at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture headquarters on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the presence of representatives from both companies. As part of this deal, it was agreed to raise the capital of NAQUA through a primary investment from SALIC, resulting in SALIC owning 42.4% of the total shares of NAQUA. On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of SALIC, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, said: "The strategic partnership between SALIC and NAQUA aims to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 in the field of ensuring the sustainability of vital resources, and it aligns with SALIC's strategic objectives in achieving national food security goals and enabling the agricultural food sector by enhancing local production, which will reflect positively on improving the trade balance deficit." His Excellency added, "This approach aligns with the objectives of the Public Investment Fund and its portfolio companies as a primary driver of local economic growth.
